Happy Father's Day

Our Daddy is our very best friend,
He loves us from beginning to end.
He teaches us so many things,
Like how to golf and tie shoe strings.
He shows us how to do guy stuff,
Like camp and fish, and be real tough.
He makes us laugh with his silly ways,
And cheers us up on our bad days.
He tucks us into bed and night,
And teaches us what's wrong and right.
So thank you, Daddy, for all you do,
And Happy Father's Day, We Love You Too!

MoNsTeR TrUcK MaNiA!

Our little Baby Chase turned THREE on June 20th! I was super excited to celebrate his birthday this year, because I just knew that he would finally get his age right when I asked him how old he is. For the past year, he's insisted that he's three, even though I have told him over and over again that he's two. He hasn't budged one time on this...he has been unwavering in his belief that he is "three", and nothing/no one has convinced him otherwise. So the very first thing I asked him the morning of his birthday was, "Chase, how old are you?" I was just ecstatic knowing that he was finally going to get it right. And what does he say to me??? "I'm four!" No!!!!!

We celebrated his big day with a giant monster truck bouncy house. Gammy and Poppy were kind enough to host the shindig in their giant backyard. Thanks, Gams and Pops!

A deep conversation with Chase

Mommy: Chase, what is your favorite fruit to eat?
Chase: Cake.
Mommy: Cake isn't a fruit, Chase.
Chase: But it should be.

Let it be said I've had similar thoughts.

The Tooth Fairy's Debut

Cole had a loose tooth for months and months, and it finally came out on June 4th! And by "came out", I mean it was pulled out, by me. (Cole helped by wiggling it a lot...I don't mean to imply that I extracted his tooth with reckless abandon...although it was a thought.) I was so excited for Cole to lose his first tooth! I remember what a thrill it was for me when I was little, and I couldn't wait for him to experience it. He was very excited to put his tooth in his little porcelain tooth holder and hide it under his pillow in anticipation of the Tooth Fairy. He was so sure that the Tooth Fairy was going to bring him a Lego kit, even though I reiterated to him that she brings money - not toys. So he woke up to find glittery coins (painted with sparkly nail polish...true Tooth Fairy style), a certificate documenting the momentus occasion, and a light-up Spiderman tooth brush. Daddy and I decided to get him a Lego kit as a special "first tooth" gift from us (and by "Daddy and I", I mean me. Chad thought it was a bit overboard) so that he wouldn't be disappointed in his first tooth-losing experience. The day after his tooth came out, I asked him how it felt. His reply was, "Pretty different. But not too different." And that is Cole's communication style in a nutshell.
Right after it happened! I love this face!

His new smile!

I'm joining the 21st century...

Friends and family, welcome to the Boyd family blog! I can hardly believe it myself, but I've decided to join the 21st century and become a blogger. Those of you that know me well (or even a little) are probably wondering what possessed me to take this giant leap into the world wide web. Well, for years now (5 and 1/2 to be exact, since that's how old Cole is), I've regretted that I don't journal or scrapbook, (I've tried - I've failed), and I know that many of my favorite memories have already begun to fade. So here it is, my attempt to capture the many adventures (and sometimes misadventures) of my life with a husband, (we'll call him Chad), three small boys, and one cat; and to share it all with you.

***Mom, this means you can stop asking me to send you pictures, which I never do, which causes you great disappointment, which makes me feel bad - but for some reason not bad enough to just send you pictures. Now you can see everything that we're up to AND share the link with your friends. Can I get a WHOO HOO, Gammy-Gams!!***
