This week:
Cole had his last choral concert for what will probably be the rest of his life, as he ended up despising it the whole year because he didn't get any solos. Apparently that was his sole motivation for joining. Had I known this in advance, I would've told him that only 6th graders get solos and saved us all the trouble. We lived and learned. For his final appearance as a choir concert singer, he did get to play the role of a loud jungle animal, AND he got to stand by his favorite girl. Coincidence? No on both counts.
We took the boat out for our first fishing trip of the year. Although I find the boat to be barely seaworthy, it actually gets a lot of compliments from the fishing community. Every hairy, bearded, grizzly, and slightly drunk man hanging out on the dock has something nice to say about it. It makes Chad so happy. We are quite the crew out on the open water in the barely seaworthy vessel: the manly, manly Chad, three Boyd boys that just want to play with worms, one tiny little pug dog, and me, the princess amongst all the testosterone trying desperately not to get dirty or wet, or touched by any worms or fish scales. We are a motley crew, for sure. Caden caught his first fish and even reeled it in by himself. Despite my own best efforts since my career as a Boyd fisherwoman commenced, I have yet to reach that achievement. It's probably for the best, as I'd burst into tears and probably administer CPR as soon as I caught one. In the sea of boys that is my life, I am a true fish out of water. Pun intended.
Here are my pages for week 21.
