Back to school mode has been in full effect at our house, starting with our back to school countdown we launched ten days before school started. (See the cute sign? Thank you, Pinterest.)
Doesn't Cole look like a cool, big 2nd grader in his daddy's shades?

A lot of shopping has ensued in preparation for the big day. School clothes and supplies have been purchased, along with all the necessities for eating lunch at school. (I learned my lesson from last year and did the clothes shopping WITHOUT Cole. He doesn't find it fun or exciting to shop in any way.)
Earlier in the week, we went to school to meet his new teachers and see his new classroom. I'm already so impressed with his teachers...looking forward to great year with Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Aubert.
Even the little boys joined in the fun!
Since yesterday marked the official last day of summer vacation, we held our traditional Back to School cupcake party. Banners were hung. (Thank you, Pinterest.)
Apple cupcakes were made. (Thank you, Pinterest.)
Apple cupcakes were eaten.
I'm realizing that Cole is shirtless a lot in this post. He really does wear clothes.
Of course, the brand new pajamas to be worn the night before the first day of school is an important tradition in our house. Typically Cole picks hideous pjs, but this year since I shopped without him, I decided to go with a middleground look. This set isn't the worst thing I've ever seen; I actually think they're kind of cool in a big second grader kind of way. But of course I had to tell Cole that I think they're hideous in order for him to give his stamp of approval.
(Cute {and free!} printable...thank you, Pinterest.)
This morning the big moment finally arrived! Cole woke up to balloons and homemade muffins to
start his first day off right!
I tucked this cute little Swedish Fish treat in his lunchbox. (Thank you, Pinterest.)
He chose this outfit. (Can't say I'm a HUGE fan of the shirt, but I knew HE would love it when I bought it. He told me this morning that he likes to wear skulls and crossbones. Gross.)
(Speech bubble idea? Pinterest.)
After 2937853 pictures, we headed off to school. He looks like such a big boy.
But not too big to hold onto Dad.
Notice my slightly crazy looking eyes, vein-y forhead and red nose. (Pretty, isn't it!) That's the look that one gets when trying not to cry as she drops her son off for his first day of second grade. I did pretty good.
And here it is...the moment we've been anticipating...welcome to Room 206!
I have absolutely loved having Cole home for the summer. (Quick caveat: I have not loved having three boys at any kind of store with me. It's about the only time that I was missing school.) Cole is still such a sweet, thoughtful, funny, amazing kid. I'm going to miss having him around during the day, but I know there are big things in store for him this year!
Love my Coco Puff, the big second grader!

Way to go HB!! Um, fellow blog readers, I would like to point out that there are NO PAINT SWATCHES in the background of these pics!!! Very nice walls, my friend! :)
Wow. Wow. Wow. Look at your amazing pictures all over this blog. I had so much fun reading all your posts. Super cute speech bubble idea. I would steal it if I knew my kids wouldn't stomp their foot and roll their eyes at the mere suggestion. I think they're getting too old. Boo. Such a fun day you made it for your boys. Do they realize how lucky they are?!
Your boys are so lucky to have you. I know they don't alwasy appreciate the PJs, or the fabulous cupcakes that just might get me into Pinterest afterall... Good work mama!
