10 Things I Learned In Arizona

A couple of weeks ago I went on a girls weekend-long trip to Arizona with Amy, Andrea, and Sara.  It was so relaxing and fun!  We pretty much spent our days reading by the pool, eating delicious food, shopping, and watching chick flicks.  (Because it was 2,938 degrees outside and I didn't want my camera to melt, I took very few pictures.  Click on Amy and Sara's names in yellow to see their posts about our trip.)

Shanna came over the day before I left to deliver a flight survival kit with some of my favorite treats.  What a great girl she is!  She knew that I would be shaking in my boots (or sandals) to hop aboard an airplane (and she was right).

Look at how happy these girls look.  Destination?  Sunny AZ!
(I didn't have that happy look on my face until the plane had landed and come to a complete stop.)

This is the beautiful house that we stayed at.  And when I say 'beautiful', I really mean it.
Inside and out, it was lovely.

This is where we spent most of our days until it got too hot, and then the shopping and eating ensued.

Did I mention food?

Since I don't have too many pictures to share, I thought I'd list the things I learned while vacationing in sunny AZ.

1.  I can fly on an airplane without the use of mind altering chemical substances.  I wasn't sure that I could, but then I did, and now I know I can.  This has given me the confidence to try driving on the freeway.

2.  The people native to Arizona think it's too hot to be outside.  What?  We couldn't get enough of the hot hot sun.  Of course, this is most likely because we'd never seen it before.  But we did find it odd that every outdoor facility was deserted.  Where are all the people of Arizona?  I'm still wondering about this.

3.  There is such a thing in fashion known as Jeggings.  Have you heard of these?  I had not prior to this trip, but now I'm seeing them everywhere.  Jeggings.  I still don't entirely understand them.

3.5.  It's okay to wear a headband with a flower or a bow on it.  It is also okay to look for clothes that are more colorful than navy blue and white stripes.  It is acceptable, even encouraged, to try on other forms of clothing besides hoodies.  One of the girls told me that I wear my clothes too big.  This is note-worthy because she's just one of many friends who have mentioned this to me.  I don't see it.  However, the girls back home were happy to hear it.

4.  Andrea is an excellent driver and managed the crazy freeways of AZ like it was child's play.  Chad would've been so proud.  Seriously.  He's not used to that kind of driving from me.

5.  Sara is not friends with cactus plants.  Although she was very concerned about their mysterious lack of presence in what we assumed would be cactus-laden territory, she quickly learned it's better when they're not around.

6.  Amy is a good friend to pick cactus pokies out of her friend's body.

7.  Sara knows a seriously complicated and intricate card game.  I think it required at least 8 decks of cards to play and an entire page of rules.  Andrea and Amy are also good at this game. Sara will not want me for a partner in the future.

8.  Josh Duhamel can make even the dumbest chick flick completely worth watching.

9.  Airport candy is not a good treat to bring home as a surprise for small boys.  Particularly, "Arizona Rock Candy".  It's around $4.00 for a tiny bag, and virtually inedible.

10.  I love these girls!

Thank you to Andrea, Sara, and Amy for a wonderful, fun filled, sunny, and educational weekend in AZ!
